I really, genuinely wanted one of these when I got rid of my Dakota. All the ones that were for sale at the time were so beaten though.

I like the SN95 and it just got better with age.

I cant think of a mustang generation that was worse.

yeah they are rad, interiors weren't that good but I like em. SVT's were subtle but awesome

The designers at Ford deserve a lot of credit on this one. They took the old Fox platform and made a modern looking car for the time. There is no way you would know the Fairmont was underneath. I loved it when it came out and would not mind getting one today.

There is only one worse. Just barely though, could go either way.

You know, I actually agree with that. The SN95 does look pretty cool

In order of objective beauty, best to worst, ignoring performance and competition at the time:
1. Gen 5-1 (2005-2009) "S-197"
2. Gen 5-2 (2010-2013)
3. Gen 1-2 (1967-1970) "Bullit"
4. Gen 1-1 (1964-1966)
5. Gen 1-3 (1971-1973) "Mach 1"
7. Gen 4-2 (199-2004) "New Edge"
8. Gen 4-1 (1994-1998) "SN95"
6. Gen 2 (1974-1978) "Mustang II"
9. Gen 3-2 (1987-1993) "Fox Body II"
10. Gen 3-1 (1979-1986) "Four-Eye"
So a better way to put it, is that the 1994-1998 Mustang is still the best looking V8 mustang you can get for under $4500 still.

The interiors were amazing, in terms of layout and ergonomics.
They were terrible in terms of materials and noise.

I think everyone should be forced to own one of these for a month before judging them. They look loads better in person than in pictures, and have the best curves of any modern mustang.
It's the little things, like how the driver and passenger interiors mirror eachother, the way the mirror shows the bulge of the rear around the tires (even if the tires aren't wide enough to fill it out) and how the hood rises muscularly from the emblem. They weren't jaw-droppingly gorgeous, but they were the perfect car for making a kid feel like he owned something special, even if it only cost ~$5000$ and they did that job well.

Hmm..I'd actually take this in a heartbeat.

I'm biased towards the '72 personally...
And no, not the old gone in 60 seconds '72!
This colored '72!

I dig the quad headlights, but I've never seen a Fox with the headlights in three sections on each side like here. Do you have any info on that?

I feel like they got better over time but I still love that generation too. I still feel like they had an underbite at this point.

That's a Mustang SVO

Personally I was never too crazy about the headlights on those.

YES! I couldn't agree more, at first I really didn't like the SN95 body style but after a few months of seeing one in my driveway I have come to appreciate the design. LOVE IT!

I am partial to both this one and the one Raphy posted as both were popular among young drivers where I grew up in Oman. The Mustang is the Omani's sports car of choice, seriously. Not as modified as you find abroad but definitely in cool colours like lime green and orange. Was rare to see any Japanese sportscars there (even the venerable 90s tuners), not sure why but I think it's a mindset of Japan = boring utilitarian

Obviously they're cut from the same cloth, I just think the New Edge provides a bit more of a purposeful muscular look. To me the bubbly SN95 carries a bit much of the 90s jelly-bean Taurus for me.
![]() 02/13/2014 at 10:26 |

Wouldn't go so far as to compare it to the Taurus but the sharpening of lines has definitely gone in its favour

Purely for the retro aspect of it but it does look nice in black and cobra stripes.
